Welcome to Schwa.

We are a small restaurant located in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago. We may do things differently  than what you’d expect from a restaurant with a Michelin star, but we want you to have a good time and we want to have a good time with you.

Here are some things to know about us.

When you walk in at the time of your reservation, one of our chefs will greet you at the door and show you to your table. We do not have a host stand. Or a host. We actually have no front of house staff.

Our chefs are your servers. So feel free to ask us about ideas and preparations behind the food.

In return, we may ask you to eat with your hands.

Because creativity is at our forefront—we explore playful approaches to the food and dining experience.

We serve a multi- course tasting menu that is about two hours long.

We ask that your party arrive on time so that we can make your dining experience as fluid as possible.

If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please contact us PRIOR to making your reservation to ensure we can accommodate. Then, make sure to include those approved dietary notes on your reservation.  If you do not, we may not be able to accommodate.

We are BYOB- that means bring your own beverage. We do provide water and ice, everything else you drink is up to you. However, we are happy to make pairing suggestions if you would like.

We do not have valet. Street parking on Ashland is free, when available. There is a hotel on the corner of North and Ashland with a parking garage.  Or maybe consider a rideshare option to ensure you arrive on time and get home safely.

And yes, our music is loud.
